Taking learning from its more
traditional site of school and locating
it within a neighbourhood setting, that
is on the doorstep of a local community,
characterises a new education initiative
for adults that is running in Ballybough
Offering new opportunities for adults with
limited formal education to participate in
learning that covers a range of subjects with
the option open to all of gaining accreditation.
Community art like community education operates
from a set of beliefs that values local knowledge,
starts from where people are at, learning
is active and connected to the learners' life
experiences.
Focusing on how excluded groups in our society
can find a voice in the current debates around
citizenship and active citizenship at a local,
national and European levels.
